In my experience these dollar amounts are deceptive. For a first DUI you must also pay in addition, court costs and assessments, and then you need to pay for the DUI school program you will be told to attend, so the cost mounts to rarely less than $3,000.00 for a first offense. Court may grant you some time to pay...
but pay you will !!!

The Cost of Being Arrested is HUGE!
The actual cost, out of pocket, can be well over $70,000.00.
If you are arrested, Bail will cost you from $5,0000.00 to $15,000.00 (10% of $50K, or $150K often for a grower or bulk transporter or dispensary) though a little less if you are represented by my office! This money must be traceable to a legitimate taxed source, as there is likely a bail hold on the funds as per California Penal Code 1275.1. Then you need to pay rent for the next few months and put food on the table, and buy another car as your car is impounded. You will have no money as your bank accounts are frozen and your cash is gone with your computer, title to your house and land etc.. Needless to mention, you need to immediately also hire a criminal lawyer with a deposit of $5,000 to $40,000 to deal with the criminal aspects and to help you not go to prison for many years. Also, you realize that Child Protective Services will be very happy to immediately take your children away from you...
